What's in a Name?
Colorado's Name Origin
If you have you ever wondered, "What kind of a name is Colorado?", I agree with you. So I did some digging on the Internet and found out many things about the origin of Colorado's name. Apparently, the name "Colorado" comes from the Spanish for "ruddy" or "red", for the Colorado River in Colorado. It was named by explorers, like Zeubloan Pike, who first saw the red and ruddish Colorado River.
Colorado's Nickname
Colorado has two major nicknames. For one, it is named "The Centennial State", for it was established 100 years before the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Also, it is named "Colorful Colorado" for all of the amazing scenery located in Colorado, such as it's beautiful mountains.
Colorado's Location
Colorado is at about the middle of the United States. If you look at a state map, Colorado isn't anywhere near the coast- it's east of California. It is in the Rocky Mountain region of the United States of America.
